We are hoping to install some bait stations in the Hokonui Hills and reduce pest levels to help create a safer environment for the South Island Robin and other native fauna. Bait stations are a way of placing bait in the bush that prevents non-target species such as native birds and domestic animals, from accessing it. This bait can either be toxic or non-toxic with leg-hold traps or -kill-traps placed near the bait station.
The cost of a bait station, checking and maintenance for a year is on average $70.
