The Hokonui Rūnanga has received Jobs for Nature Funding from Land Information New Zealand – Toitu te Whenua (LINZ) to cover specified Biodiversity and Biosecurity outcomes within the Hokonui takiwa.

The purpose of the projects is to enhance te au tūroa, increase biodiversity, protect taonga species both flora and fauna, and create awareness and education through the community of how special a taonga the Hokonui Hills are culturally, environmentally and socially. This funding was distributed under four main projects: Taiao Capacity Building, Hokonui Biodiversity and Restoration Projects, Taiao Kaitiaki Tauira Training and Seed Collecting.
