Alana Bensemann

Biosecurity & Biodiversity Project Manager

Alana grew up in sunny Nelson and has since braved the blistering cold and moved to the less tropical Gore District.  She has both an undergrad in science and a post-grad in Environmental Management from Massey University. Alana has considerable experience in pest control having worked as a field officer for OSPRI TBFree Programme for four years, most recently working for the Predator Free Southland Programme.

Alana provides occupational and technical support to te Taiao and its contractors to ensure the effective delivery of the Catlins Biodiversity Project. She focuses on quality control, future-proofing, and the development of project-related plans, reports, and documents.

Alana and Emma Shanks are our go-to people for any queries regarding the Catlins Biodiversity Project. If you live in the Catlins and want to be involved in community-led pest control or other conservation activities contact Emma. And, if you are already involved and would like to keep in touch, Alana is the person to contact.
